Abstract

The oceanic scyphomedusa Pelagia noctiluca (Forskal) was exceptionally abundant in the coastal waters of Devon and Cornwall in the year 1966. Very young stages were taken only in the months of October, December, January and early February, indicating that the medusa has a restricted breeding season.
